A power supply unit consisting of rectifier, filter capacitor, and voltage stabiliser. Provides a well-filtered, stabilised direct voltage of 12 V. Connects to a suitable transformer with a minimum secondary voltage of 15 V. The unit has a wide input voltage range and can handle a considerably higher input voltage, but because of increased power loss, output current will then decrease.
