An IR alarm consisting of an electronic unit and separate transmitter and receiver, IR diode and phototransistor. The transmitter and receiver are placed opposite each other, on the same level and with a maximum distance of 3 m. As the IR beam breaks, a relay with switching function is activated , which in turn connects to suitable equipment such as a door bell, a lamp etc. Breaking or closing operation upon activation can be selected, since the relay is switching. For the connection of the transmitter and the receiver to the electronic unit, a shielded cable with a maximum length of 30 cm between the receiver and the electronic device should be used. By assembling the receiver in a suitable way, protected from surrounding light, the maximum range can be obtained.
